PlumbersNI ("we", "us", "our") operates an introducer service that connects Northern Ireland homeowners and landlords with Gas Safe and OFTEC registered plumbing and heating installers. We do not carry out the work ourselves. When you submit a quote request through this website, we pass your details to a qualified installer on our network who then contacts you to quote and, if you accept, to carry out the work under their own customer contract.
We are the data controller for the initial collection of your details via our forms. Once we pass those details to an installer, the installer becomes an independent data controller for the ongoing relationship with you.
We comply with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
What we collect
We collect personal data directly from you when you:
- Submit a quote form (name, surname, email, mobile, postcode, property address where given, and details about the job).
- Submit an emergency request (the same contact details plus a description of the issue).
- Contact us by email or via a linked phone number (name, contact details, anything you choose to share in the message).
We do not knowingly collect data from children. Our service is aimed at homeowners, landlords and their agents.
How we use it
We use your data to:
- Pass your enquiry to a suitably qualified installer on our network who can quote for the work.
- Answer questions you send us directly.
- Maintain a record of enquiries for service, dispute-resolution and audit purposes.
Our lawful basis for processing is consent: by submitting a quote form you consent to your details being passed to an installer for the purpose of quoting your job. You can withdraw consent at any time by emailing us (see "Your rights" below).
Who we share it with
We share your data with:
- Our network installer, being a single Gas Safe or OFTEC registered engineer we have selected as the best fit for your area and the work you've described. The installer uses your details to contact you, quote the work and, if you accept, to perform the installation or service under their own customer contract and warranty.
- Our hosting and form-processing providers (currently Netlify, Inc.), who transmit and store form submissions on our behalf under a standard data-processing agreement.
- Regulators, courts or law enforcement, where we are legally compelled to do so.
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for marketing purposes with any third party.
Our network installers are legally required to register gas work with Gas Safe Register and oil work with OFTEC, and to notify Building Control where applicable. Any further sharing by the installer (including with boiler manufacturers for warranty registration, or with their accountant) is covered by the installer's own privacy policy once the contract is with them.
How long we keep it
We retain quote enquiries for up to 24 months from the date of submission to help resolve any disputes and to audit the quality of installer responses. You can request deletion sooner by emailing us.
Once your details are with the installer, their retention period applies to the ongoing relationship (typically 6–7 years for HMRC and insurance purposes).
Cookies
This website uses only essential cookies needed for core functionality (form submission and session handling). We do not currently use tracking, advertising or analytics cookies. If we add analytics in future we will update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent first.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct it if it's wrong.
- Ask us to delete it.
- Object to how we're using it.
- Ask for a copy in a portable format.
- Withdraw consent for processing at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@plumbersni.com. Please note: once your details have been passed to an installer, you may also need to contact the installer directly to exercise these rights against the data they hold.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be flagged on the home page for at least 30 days.
